The scale was...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 232.0 lbs
Goal Weight: 175.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 57.0 lbs

The scale was more accurate this morning...230.8 lbs. So I should definitely be under 230 lbs by Sunday's Weigh-In. My goal on mfp is 2 pounds a week but my real goal has always been 1% a week. This week that's 2.3 lbs so I'm looking to be 229.7 lbs on Sunday. Wish me luck.

I know my blog is suppose to pertain to weight loss information but today I want to share another aspect of my life...writing.

Tomorrow marks the first day of NaNoWriMo...National Novel Writing Month. It happens every November. The goal is to write 50,000 words in a month, about 1667 words a day. I participated last year but I didn't hit the goal of 50,000 words. I got a little over 20,000 words. This year I have a different plan of action.

What I think is really cool  about NaNoWriMo is that they get authors to email us pep talks to keep us motivate during the month. Today I received one from James Patterson.
So Writer, you’re trying to write a novel in 30 days. Has anyone told you you’re crazy yet?
You’re not crazy. I promise. I know because I’ve written a novel in a couple of months. And yes, I’m a human being (just ask my editor, or my wife) and I do sleep. The book even got published. So anyone who tells you it’s impossible is wrong and you should probably stop taking their advice. Unless it’s your mom. Then just stop taking her advice about writing (you should still floss once a day).
There’s no getting around the fact that it’s hard, though, is there? By now you know that better than anyone. Maybe you should give up on this whole novel business and go relax. Or work at a paying job. But I say, keep at it. Because, like I said, it’s possible. And as you must suspect, it’s a pretty fantastic feeling to have written a book.
So how do you do it? Here are some tips on making it to December 1 without going crazy or giving up. (Though if you have to do one of them, I’ve always found sanity overrated.)
Outline. If you already have: gold star; proceed to the next piece of advice. If you didn’t, don’t worry, because it’s never too late to go back and make an outline. An outline isn’t something to be scared of, it’s just a chapter-by-chapter description of the scenes that, lined-up together, make your book. On the count of three, tell me the story that unfolds in your novel. All the way to the last chapter. Now write that down. There’s your outline. Easy, right?
Lie to yourself. Honesty is a great quality, but we’re writing fiction here, so you’d better get used to a little light lying. Tell yourself you can do this. Tell yourself your book will be great. The world will love it and you’ll be the next J.K. Rowling, J.D. Salinger, Art Spiegelman, or whatever flavor of author you hope to become.
Get into a writing routine. Think it’s hard to write every day during NaNo? Most professional writers keep this kind of pace all year round. Holidays, birthdays, vacations—you name it, we’re writing. The trick is making writing into a daily habit. Same time. Same place. Same hot beverage of choice. Every. Single. Day. Again. And. Again.
Don’t do it alone. If you live with somebody, tell them to be unpleasant to you if they see you doing anything else during your writing time. Buy them a water gun. If you live alone, have friends call and check on you. And if you have no friends, you will have no trouble writing a book in 30 days. What else do you have to do? (I’m not knocking friendless people. We’ve all been there.)
Don’t stress. I don’t mean to undermine the above, but remember this is one month, not your entire writing career. Try hard, learn from it, and if you don’t get to 50,000 words, figure out what you did wrong so you can get there next time.
Stop reading this. Start writing. Now. (Or at midnight your time.)

Right now, my novel is called Vernonia, it's the name of a flower. It's about a aspiring model who moonlights as burlesque dancer that has a torrid affair with the engaged son of well-known politician.

I need to do my outline tonight before I go to bed.

With sugary treats looming...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 232.0 lbs
Goal Weight: 175.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 57.0 lbs

With sugary treats looming, I want to share this article from helloheathy, 7 Tricks for a Healthier Halloween. Be safe tomorrow.

For those in the holiday spirit, check here and here.

Here's a list of my some scary movies I enjoy:

  1. The Conjuring
  2. Insidious
  3. Insidious: Chapter 2
  4. You're Next
  5. Paranormal Activity
  6. Paranormal Activity 2
  7. Paranormal Activity 3
  8. Paranormal Activity 4
The scale gods were being rather mysterious this morning. I weighed about 10 times before I got the same number twice. The highest was 231.6 lbs and the lowest was 230.8 lbs. Eventually, 230.8 lbs popped up twice but when I stepped on the scale one more time it said 231.6 lbs. Go figure. Well, I know I'm not longer 232 lbs. Yah!

Loaded potatoes...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 232.0 lbs
Goal Weight: 175.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 57.0 lbs

Loaded potatoes have become my new weakness. It was rice with butter but a loaded potato is the bee's knees. It's all I think about all day, "I can't wait to have a potato." I compared russet potatoes to white rice and potatoes are much healthier if you don't load them down with sour cream and butter.

Well, since I don't seem to have much to say these days, starting next Sunday, I will only be posting on Sundays.

Pretty slow day...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 232.0 lbs
Goal Weight: 175.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 57.0 lbs

Pretty slow day. Not much to say. I managed to drink 16 cups of water. I can't tell you how many times I went number 1 today. I can't imagine having a job and drinking so much water. I would never get any work done.

I changed it up a little for dinner instead of my usual vegetables, I had a loaded potato. Oh, it was so good.

I got another request for a workout partner from a guy who doesn't live too far from me. I don't know if I really want a partner or not. Maybe I should since I'll be at the halfway mark next Sunday and that will mark the point where I start lifting weights.

I was watching In Her Shoes today. The scene with the sushi made me so hungry. I really need to buy some sushi.

Well, that's a first...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 232.0 lbs
Goal Weight: 175.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 57.0 lbs

Well, that's a first, I weighed three times as usual and all three numbers were the same, 232.0 lbs. :-) I'm so happy to see that number. I'm almost halfway to my goal. If I keep this up next Sunday I might be in the 220s. That would be so awesome.

I changed up my walk a little bit. I increase the speed by .1, so I walked 3 miles at 4.1 mph at 5% incline. I finished a minute and ten seconds early, 43:58. I will increase by .1 every two weeks until I'm walking at 4.5 mph. So by New Year's, I should be ready to start running and possibly be around 200 lbs.

The loaded potato was so good yesterday that I decided to switch it with rice today. It's around the same amount of calories.

Last week, my BMI was 31.1 kg/m2, this week it's 30.6 kg/m2; I'm getting there slowly but surely. I'm 5 lbs away from the overweight zone. 227 lbs here I come!

It's Saturday...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 235.4 lbs
Goal Weight: 175 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 60.4 lbs

It's Saturday, I normally do laundry today but I have another weeks worth of clothes. I guess I'll clean the bathroom and wash my dogs. Try to write a little. Watch some movies. Maybe finish the audible book I'm been listening to.

The cheeseburger, I had for lunch, did not turn out quite like I had planned. I think I need to use different seasoning and stuff the patty with cheese. The buffalo blue cheese dressing was quite good though. Oh, god the steak and loaded potato was delicious. Yum! I wanted more. I can't wait til the day I can eat 1000 more calories a day.

If you're curious, Mudturtle posted his result from his Donut & Protein Diet. I really don't listen to him for advice on nutrion, he's more for entertainment purposes only.

Doughnutsythesis? LOL. This guy needs help. Oh, and the girl. LOL.

I stepped on the scale again...232.2 lbs today. That's what I wanted to weigh tomorrow so I guess, tomorrow I'll either be the same amount or less.

It's getting really hard...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 235.4 lbs
Goal Weight: 175 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 60.4 lbs

It's getting really hard to drink a gallon (16 cups) of water a day. That's been my goal for the past week. I've only been able to drink 2 quarts (8 cups) consistently. I noticed I do most my drinking between breakfast and noon, then it tapers off to 6pm. I'll figure something out, I guess.

One of my friend's of mfp posted this, I thought it was hilarious.
Korean Baptist pastor at the sushi bar just told me I wasn't going to get into heaven because I was Catholic, a lapsed one. Resisted the urge to tell him that heaven had a height requirement and he also wouldn't be getting to get on the coaster of the afterlife.
Oh, update on the woman who likes to be alone in the fitness center, well today she came in when I had 5 minutes left;  she stayed and worked out. Good for her.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I'm having a cheese hamburger with buffalo blue cheese dressing and sea salt & vinegar potato chips for lunch. For dinner, 5 oz top sirloin steak and a small potato with sour cream, chives, cheese, and butter. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Oh, and then Sunday is weigh-in day and lamb and rice day.

I weighed this morning, 233.6 lbs. I still have two more days, I'm hoping for lower end of 232 lbs , like 232.2 lbs or less.

I workout at my apartment's fitness center...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 235.4 lbs
Goal Weight: 175 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 60.4 lbs

I workout at my apartment's fitness center everyday. Normally, I'm alone except on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There's a guy that using the treadmill for 15 minutes then he lift weights. Well on Monday a woman was on one of the treadmills when I got there. As I was setting up my treadmill, which was next to hers. She stopped her machine and left. I thought nothing of it. I noticed she didn't reset it or wipe it down. Yuck! Well, anyway she did like .86 miles in 15:26. I thought that as an odd place to stop.

The next day, I was later than normal and she was there again, and like Monday she stopped her machine as I was setting up mine. She didn't wipe it again or reset it. She did 26 mins. Again, I thought nothing of it.

Ok, this morning I was alone until about 15 minutes into my workout when the door opened and then it quickly closed. It was her again. I was like WTF you can't workout around people. Whatever the reason, I'm sure it's a stupid one.

I tried the haddock today. It's ok. I think I'm going to stop streaming my fish. That smell is starting to make me nausea.

If you been following my food intake you may have notice a lot potato chips. Well, I'm trying to get rid of the ones I had before I found popchips.

I went grocery shopping...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 235.4 lbs
Goal Weight: 175 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 60.4 lbs

I went grocery shopping today.  I bought every on my list except raisins. The Walmart I went to out, well, actually, they weren't out but they only had one container and it looked like it was smashed. I didn't get cod or flounder fillets as planned, instead I got catfish and haddock fillets. I've never had haddock before so we'll see how that goes next Tuesday. I've only had catfish fried; I'm considering covering it bread crumbs and baking it or some as a low fat option. Maybe I could fry it in extra virgin olive oil.

I was looking at flax seeds and chia seeds today when I went to Harris Teeter. I've read that both are really good for you. They both are high in Omega 3s. And chia seed have as much antioxidants as blueberries. A serving of flax seeds (2 tbsp) is 70 calories versus a a serving of chia seeds (1 tbsp) is 60 calories. I may try both and mix them in with my morning bowl of oats.

Well, that person I was suppose to meet from mfp, was a no show. It's not a big deal. I don't really think I want a workout partner anyway. However, I would like to complete with someone or a group in loosing weight. When I worked at Sentara, they had a Biggest Loser contest. I tried to get other from the department I worked in to join me but as always people talk the talk but never walk the walk. So because I don't like doing thing alone, I didn't join. However, a month after the contest ended I went on a diet. I lost 30 lbs.
