I decided to forgo the alligator meat for this Sunday's cheat day since I couldn't find any recipes that didn't involve frying it. So instead, I'm thinking about buying halibut fillets or scallops or type of fish I haven't had. I saw some catfish fillets at Walmart but they weren't individually vacuumed sealed as most their fish, so I would have to thaw the whole bag, and repackage them, for a lack of better words...that would suck.
I'm also contemplating making a orange sorbet for dessert with the oranges I brought two weeks ago. I search around on the internet for orange sorbet recipes but the all seem to add a lot of sugar, from 2 tbsps to 2 cups. I'll mostly likely use the one with 2 tbsps of sugar and substitute with honey.
I found an interesting website, Easy Sugar Free Recipes, with great dessert ideas. The guy who runs the site, Andrew Muller, uses natural sweeteners like agave nectar, stevia, and erythritol instead of sugar for most of the recipes. I've never heard of agave nectar or erythritol before but I sure plan on finding out more about it. They may be better choice than using honey. His site has a delicious looking orange sorbet and banana sorbet I might try.
I bought a blender and cheese grater yesterday. The blender is a Farberware 4-Speed Digital Blender With Travel Cup and it retails for $40.00 at Walmart. It features a 800 watt motor, great for crushing ice. The cheese grater is a simply metal four-sided grater, I plan to use it to zest some oranges for my sorbet. Mmmm...
If you have any recipes especially alligator meat, feel free to share.
And as always may the scale gods smile upon you.
