Let's go meatless...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 249.4 lbs
 Goal Weight: 175.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 74.4 lbs

Let's go meatless. Yeah, I said it. Go meatless. Bob Harper, personal trainer on The Biggest Loser, suggests we all go meatless at least one day a week. I know of other people doing this, so decided to give it a try. So from now on Monday will be known as Meatless Monday. I haven't quite decided what to eat yet for inaugural Meatless Monday. I'm thinking about buying some portobello mushrooms for either a burger or pasta. Maybe I can use the mushrooms to make "meatballs" for meatless spaghetti, I haven't had spaghetti in forever.

Meatless Spaghetti: Doesn't this look delicious?
I also need to find a way to incorporate the honey wheat bread and honey peanut butter I bought into my meal plan. Maybe I'll use it on my cheat day.

I posted an article about proteins from hellohealthy under Must-Reads.

I welcome any suggestions for Meatless Monday.

Yesterday, I took Dr. Oz's quiz...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 253.8 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose : 68.8 lbs

Yesterday, I took Dr. Oz's quiz: What's your metabolism type?

It asks you four questions, i.e. how would you describe your appetite, and what kinds of food do you crave most often and gives you three possible answers. You determine your type by your most common answer.

According to the test, if you answered mostly As, you have an emotional hunger type! You need more protein than people with other types of metabolisms, which is why you crave salty foods – salt is often found in proteins and fats. Your diet should be approximately 50% protein, 30% fats and 20% carbsIf you answered mostly Bs, you have a sensory hunger type! You crave sweets because your body easily digests and stores carbohydrates. Your diet should be approximately 70% carbs, 20% protein and 10% fatsIf you answered mostly Cs, you have a habitual hunger type! You crave both sweet and salty foods because your body has the ability to utilize protein, fats and carbohydrates equally. Your diet should be approximately 33% protein, 33% fats and 33% carbs

Most my answers were B, so I'm a sensory hunger type. I found that very interesting because I'm already eating this way, as you can see from screenshot. Look at the pie chart in the upper righthand corner. The first number is the actual percentage and the second is the suggested. My current meal plan fits it perfectly. :-)

So, what's your metabolism type? You can take Dr. Oz's quiz here

I fear I'm not losing weight...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 253.8 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose : 68.8 lbs

I fear I'm not losing weight this week. I know...I know... it's been only two days but I just have this feeling. I'm eating about 1800 calories and burning 1200 thorough exercise, giving me 600 net calories. I think this fear stems from not weighing myself everyday as I did last week. I just hope I'm not disappointment on Weigh-In Sunday. I really feel like I'm so working hard for this. Walking 7 miles a day is no walk in the park (I don't know if pun was intended). If this week doesn't produce some high single digit or more, I'm going back to 5 miles a day and 2000 calories. I'm starting to miss that extra cup of rice. :-)

I decided to switch my lunch and dinner. I'm no longer eating rice for dinner and double my rice at lunch, it's still the same amount of calories just this way most of my carbs are taken in earlier in the day.

As you can see there's a new look to 'Diary of a Mad Fat Man'. I decided instead of adding Branden Buys, Food & Nutrition, and Recipes to my actual blog but to give them their own page. Because has evolved so since I started I'm going back through all my post and making them all more uniform. It's my OCD :-/

Well, I'll be damned...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 253.8 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose : 68.8 lbs

Well, I'll be damned, you learn something new everyday. I've been using Walkmeter for about 3 years now and I just notice something new today. It tracked how many miles I've walked for this year and last year.

I've walked 182 miles so far this year. That's insane, at least to me it is.  Funny how I only walked 21 miles last year and I've already walked 21 miles this month.

I've been thinking about what I should do for the other days of the week since I have a  Food & Nutrition and Branden Buys section on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. My friend suggested maybe healthy recipes. At first I was like, meh, but now the idea is growing on me. I do like to cook and since Sunday is my cheat day that will most likely be the day I'll experiment with different foods, i.e. alligator, shark, and frog legs, and normal foods too. Food & Nutrition (may change the name) will pretty much be debunking myths about certain foods and helping you make a informed decision when purchasing products from your local grocer. I've moved Branden Buys to Saturday. I plan to go out and test certain products, i.e. blenders, etc. and give my recommendations and also list products I found helpful.

Monday

Wednesday

Friday

Saturday

Well, that still leaves Tuesday and Thursday open...any suggestions? Maybe I should leave those days blank so I can have time for my homework.  :-)

I didn't weigh myself today, so I'm off to a good start avoiding the scale until Weigh-In Sunday. I hope decreasing my rice intake and increasing my walk pays off this week.

Sunday's Weigh-In: 253.8 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose : 68.8 lbs

Old McDonald had a farm, ee i ee i o. I went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday to check out their inventory and prices. Their prices were double, in some cases, triple what I pay at Walmart. While there I found a great little butcher shop and a seafood place. The butcher shop had a lot of exotic meats, like alligator, ostrich, kangaroo, duck, elk. I'm thinking of going back and purchasing some alligator meat for my next cheat day. Yeah, you heard right, alligator meat. I read it is more heart healthier than chicken. The seafood place had a interesting selection as well, like turtle, shark, sting ray, conch, octopus, calamari and frog legs. I may get some conch, shark, and octopus.

Yesterday, I ended up not eating 2 apples for my 7:00 pm snack, I was still full from my dinner. Starting this week, I decide to decrease my intake of rice from 2 cups a day to 1 cup.

Oh no, it lost its zing...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 253.8 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose : 68.8 lbs

"Oh no, it lost its zing," I thought as I woke up this morning to weigh myself. Weigh-In Sundays used to have so much excitement surrounding it. Did I lose a little? Did I lose a lot? or the dreaded: Did I gain? Since I weigh every day the air of mystery is gone. So, I've decided not weigh anymore until Sundays.

How often do you weigh yourself? Once a week? Everyday? Never?

Last week my BMI was 34.4 kg/m2, this week it's 33.5 kg/m2, that's a difference of .9 kg/m2. At this rate, I could be in the normal zone in 10 weeks.
