I'm starting to @#%?! up...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 249.2 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 64.2 lbs

I'm starting to @#%?! up. Last night, I had another 1100 calories, two bowls of oats, raisins and milk. I should have just eat my two apples and went to sleep. So I'm a little down about that but I'm not out. I'm going back to walking 7 miles a day. Why? Because despite my constant complaining, I miss it. It made me feel better as a person being able to say, "I walked 7 miles today" and plus, I want to complete the 1000 mile challenge by December 31, 2013.

I didn't realize how competitive I am until I started using dailymile and Fitocracy. I love checking my stats on dailymile to see where I rank among the walkers. Logging my walks on Fitocracy is pretty cool, I leveled up today. I would have done that yesterday had I walked 7 miles instead of 3.

So since I will continue walking 7 miles a day. I need to start eating back some calories. Last week, my net calories ranged from 400 to 700. The week I lost the most weight, my net calories was between 1000 and 1200. So I need to eat at least another 300 - 600 calories.

You maybe wondering how I find time to walk 7 miles a day, well here's my exercise/food schedule.

I'm considering purchasing a fitness monitoring device, either fitbit or BodyMedia. The both have their own pros and cons. BodyMedia is used on NBC's The Biggest Loser. fitbit is about $100 and access to their website is free. BodyMedia is about $149 and access to their website is 6.95 a month. fitbit and Bodymedia are both accelerometers but BodyMedia has additional sensors it uses to track your galvanic skin response, skin temperature, heat flux to accurately give you your calories burned. I really like BodyMedia but I don't like having to constantly pay for their site. It's like I never truly own the product. Technically, I don't need either device but I think it's cool to have a more accurate count of the calories I burn a day instead the guesstimates most programs use.

Hello Healthy posted a new article about carbohydrates, check it out.

Just one of those days...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 249.2 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 64.2 lbs
Just one of those days when I didn't want to get out of bed but that persistent little voice in my head keep saying, "GET THE @#%?! UP, BRANDEN!"  Yes, my little voice calls me by my christian name. LOL. I stay fairly busy with managing this blog, Spanish 102 homework, exercising, writing three novels, caring for my two dogs, and having an active social life. So I have days where I'm tired as hell. I had thought about easing back on my exercising, like walk 5 days a week. Fortunately, I know my all to well, with a two day break it would take me forever to get started again. I must confess though, I can't wait to hit my goal so I can increase my calorie intake to 2100 and walk 3-miles a day. I figured that should be enough to maintain my goal weight.

I did my 3-mile walk at with no problem. However, when I finish my first 2-mile walk, I notice the mile count was off, I notice this yesterday too. My second 2-mile walk was fine. I realize the difference is that I was on the phone for both my walks. Walkmeter was off by 0.1 mile.
So, I guess I won't talk and walk anymore.

I've made a few friends on Fitocracy, "props" to them. I'm in 9th on dailymile with walking, but I'm sure that will change once people get home from work and start walking.

Oh yeah, thanks to all of you, I've hit one thousand views in less than a month. (scroll down to see counter)

As I enter my second week...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 249.2 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 64.2 lbs

As I enter my second week of walking 7 miles a day, you may be wondering is it getting easier? Hell naw! LOL. I drag myself out of bed every morning at the break of dawn. That is not fun. Hey, no pain, no gain, right? To keep myself motivated, I joined the 1000 mile challenge group on Fitocracy. The group's goal is to walk 1000 miles in a year. If I keep walking 7 miles a day I will just barely have 1K by the end of this year. Wish me luck.

Yesterday, a friend pointed out to me I'm 9 pounds away from my first goal. It hadn't even dawn on me how close I am so. I'm too busy focusing on my ultimate goal, 185 lbs. Anyway, I started thinking about what am I going to do to celebrate that accomplishment. Buy clothes? Well, I should be able to squeeze into my old jeans that are in storage, however, I do need some new shirts.

I found a fitawesome website, dailymile. It's another place you can log your workouts. If you use Walkmeter it automatic updates your workouts on dailymile. What's so cool about dailymile? Well, they have leaderboards for each activity, walking, running, cycling, and swimming. For example, I walked 7 miles so far this week (dailymile start their weeks on Mondays) so I'm number 11 amongst all the walkers, 494 to be exact. I wonder where I'm be tomorrow or at the end of the week? Like Fitocracy, you can "like" user's workout by sending motivations, like 'Nice job',  'Congrats', 'Good luck', 'You're an inspiration' and my favorite, 'I'll beat you :)'. I also added their widget to my blog, it can be seen in the right hand column.

Be sure to check out Food Facts, I found articles from the WebMD about gluten and Happy Healthy (MyFitnessPal) about bread.

Ladies and Gentlemen, drum roll please...

Sunday's Weigh-In: 249.2 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose : 64.2 lbs

Ladies and gentlemen, drum roll please...

...I weigh two hundred and forty-nine point two.

That means I've lost 13.6 lbs since starting this blog three weeks ago and 32.6 lbs since June 2013. I'm a tad disappointed but I'm glad to be in the 240s. Last week, I said I wouldn't continue walking 7 miles a day if I didn't lose 8 or more pounds, well, yesterday I had a change of heart. While I still dread doing 7 miles every day I'm kind of happy I'm doing it. I can proudly say "I walked 49 miles and burned 8325 calories." I hope the scale gods were kind to you as well.

I can across this fitawesome app, yes, fitawesome. An awesome fitness app, Fitocracy. It's available on iOS and Android. It's free and there is a website as well if you don't want to use the app. What Fitocracy does is gamify your workouts. What I mean by that is it gives you points for your workouts and level up like in a video game. I'm on level 6 after logging in this week workouts. You can do quests that involve completing some exercise routine. Another cool feature, is when you enter your workouts, they show up on a public feed so other users can give you 'props', which it similar to Facebook's 'like'. The founders, Brian Wang and Richard Talens, have profiles, I'm following both. Brian is following me back which I think is kind of cool because he has 176,223 followers but is only following 10,891.

I didn't get the halibut or catfish for my cheat day instead I doubled my meat intake and rice like last week. I really love salmon, pork chops, and rice.

I made orange sorbet. I blended 4 oranges (peeled, of course), 4 cups of ice, added 2 tbsps of honey. It turned out a more like a smoothie but it's still good.

One last thing, be sure to check out Food Facts, I found an article from the Mayo Clinic about eggs and cholesterol. Very interesting read.

I was getting a little tired of walking the same path so I decided to change it up a bit and walk it in reverse. I think I will alternate weeks walking it forward and backward.
