I'm so excited about tomorrow...

Current Weight: 254.2 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 69.2 lbs

I'm so excited about tomorrow, it's Weigh-In Sunday and it's also my first cheat day. I forgone the last two Sundays because the first Sunday was my first day eating healthier and the second Sunday I was just perfecting my meal plan.

Why have a cheat day you may ask? Well, it's really not good to deprive yourself of the food you want and love. It's setting yourself up for failure because in the back of your mind you'll be craving these foods. I'm not really a chocolate, candy or sweets person, I like meat and carbs so I've adjust my cheat day accordingly.

I haven't purchased Chris Powell's' book but I did find an article explaining his cheat day, Dr Oz: Chris Powell 1000 Calorie Cheat Day & Carb Cycling Weight Loss:

Chris Powell 1000 Calorie Cheat Day Rules
While Chris shared that the Cheat Day is very important for many physical, emotional, and psychological reasons, you can’t go overboard with what you eat. He has a few guidelines to follow when deciding what to eat on your Cheat Day.
  • Up to 1,000 Extra Calories more than what you would usually eat – That is actually a lot of calories, especially when you consider that the meals Chris has given you provide you with about 1,500 calories each day. This means you could eat 2,500 calories on your Cheat Day without feeling guilty. Dr. Oz advises that you could keep a list throughout the week of some things you might want to eat on that Cheat Day, in preparation to indulge a little.
  • Only Cheat at Breakfast and Lunch – Chris says this is because you want to avoid overloading yourself on that 5th meal because then you get into the red zone, as he calls it, which is that time of the night between 6 and Midnight when you are more apt to hypno eat and 1,000 calories could easily lead to 3,000 calories.
  • Cheat at a Table – Chris Powell says this might sound funny, but it is too easy to over eat when driving in the car or sitting in front of the TV, but he also wants you to enjoy your cheat day because you have earned it.
  • No Leftovers Allowed – Chris says this is very, very important because if the food is in your house you will eat it and you will eat it on the days you’re not supposed to eat it. He recommends going out to a restaurant or ordering take-out and eating it at your kitchen table, but make sure you get rid of the leftovers for your own sake.
Since, I'm eating 2,000 calories a day I'm not going to add another 1,000 calories. I plan to stay under 2,500 calories. I plan to cheat on my lunch (10:00 am) and dinner (4:00 pm) meal, both meals outside of the 'red zone'. For both meals, I will double my meal portion and eat 1 1/2 cups of rice along with my normal vegetable portions. The other two rules aren't an issue for me.

Back when I owned a home, I used to...

Current Weight: 254.6 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 69.6 lbs

Back when I owned a home, I used to tell my friends to call before they came because my house was always 30 mins away from being clean. I used the same methodology with my weight. When I was overweight like 230 lbs and my friends invited me on a trip or to a special event, I would hope it was a month away because I knew with a month of hard work I could be back to 200 lbs. For the longest time, 230 lbs had always been my 'wake up number', now I wish it had been a lower number. :-/

Somehow I passed 230 and it didn't bother me as I continued to spread. After reaching 281 lbs, the biggest I've ever been, my eyes were opened as I realized 300 was right around the corner. It sadden me to know I wasn't a month away after 200 anymore...more like six months and six months seemed like forever. Even now, being in the 250s, I know I'm still 2 or 3 months away from being under 200 lbs. It's hard but I do see a light at the end of the tunnel. I keep telling myself: just take one day at a time...eventually the scale will read the number 185.

Today, I vow that once I reach my goal of 185, I will not, I repeat, I will not go over 200 lbs, that will be my new 'wake up number'. I figure 10 to 15 lbs is enough leeway for the holiday season.

So, what's your 'wake up number'?

I wanted to stay in bed...

Current Weight: 255.2 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 70.2 lbs
I wanted to stay in bed this morning when my alarm went off but I got up and did my 3-mile walk. I walked a little slower than normal, mainly because I wanted to be in bed. That old adage, no pain no gain, played in my head as I walked today.

Well, looking at the scale, everything seems to be paying off. Yah!

I was debating if I should only eat 2 apples today because the cost of eating 4 a day is over a $100 a month. Why does it cost so much to eat healthy?

Another day has passed...

Current Weight: 255.8 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 70.8 lbs

Another day has passed and I'm lose more weight. Yah!

I went grocery shopping for the month, however, I forgot to get broccoli. I still have enough to last through next week. I only plan to go to the store to buy milk and apples weekly. MyNetDiary app says I'm not taking in enough calcium so I picked up a calcium supplement but somehow it didn't make it to my cart so I've to go back to Walmart. Repeat to self: broccoli and calcium...broccoli and calcium...broccoli and calcium :-)

I had plan on walking 10 miles (5 miles around my apartment complex and 5 miles to/from the dealership) but after completing 8 miles and burning 1221 calories, I think I've had enough for today. I decided to increase my walking from 5 miles to 7 miles. I want to burn at least 1000 calories a day. So I'll walk 3 miles at 6:30 am, 2 miles at 12:30pm and 2 miles at 6:30pm

Looks like the tides are changing...

Current Weight: 256.4 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 71.4 lbs

Looks like the tides are changing and the scale is going in the right direction. Nothing monumental happened today. I ate my normal routine except I replaced the bananas with granny smith apples. I did notice I'm have a lot more energy now which made my 5-mile walk is a tad more enjoyable.

School has started and I have a lot of homework to do. I'm taking Spanish 102 this semester. ¡Hola! I also haven't worked on either of my three novels in a week or so. I plan to be busy the next few days trying to get my stuff organized. I'm glad that my meal plan is in order, it will make everything else much easier. I figure out my monthly grocery bill. Each month I'll spend about $225. I thought that was a bit much but my friend, who has a family of five, said she spends that in a week.

In addition to walking 5 miles today. I decided to walked to a nearby 7-Eleven to pick up movies from the redbox. So I actually a little over 6  miles today, burning about 1050 calories. Tomorrow, I'm having my car serviced, so instead of having them drive me home, I'm going to walk the 2.5 miles when they call me to picked it up I'll walk there. With the back and forth to the dealership and my normal walking routine, I should total 10 miles tomorrow.

What a beautiful morning...

Current Weight: 257.2 lbs
 Goal Weight: 185.0 lbs
Pounds to Lose: 72.2 lbs

What a beautiful morning, I woke up feeling good despite yesterday's setback. When I opened the front door, it was chilly like a fall morning. I was tempted to go back inside and walk later when it warmed up but I pressed on. After my 3-mile walk, I came back got on the scale, lo and behold, the scale gods blessed me...257. I got on the scale three times just to make sure it was correct.
